Dramatica: The “Lost” Theory Book

Dramatica: The “Lost” Theory Book

Read it free online at

http://storymind.com/articles/page15.htm

Before the final version of “Dramatica – a New Theory of Story” there was an earlier draft that contained unfinished concepts and additional theory that was ultimately deemed “too complex”. As a result, this material was never fully developed, was cut from the final version of the book, and has never seen the light of day — until now! Recently, a copy of this early draft surfaced in the theory archives.

Included in this “lost” text – 24 new archetypal characters beyond Dramatica’s “official” 8 archetypes, an exploration of the character justification process, exploring the chemistry of characters, plus alternate explanations of the Story Mind concept, origins of the Story Mind, Objective and Subjective Characters and more!

If you are only writing with Heroes and Villains, you are limiting your stories!

Heroes and Villains are stereotypes, not archetypes.  As such, they are comprised of a number of different attributes which can be reassembled in different ways to create far more interesting and original leading characters.

In this new eBook, I pull together several of my best articles on heroes and villains along with new material to help your characters break free from the shackles of tired, cliche storytelling conventions.

Our New Writer’s Blog on Storymind.com

Announcing our new writer’s blog on Storymind.com at http://storymind.com/blog!

Why another blog?  Well, you may have noticed that Dramaticapedia.com has grown like an unplanned city, categories cropping up all over the place!  While there is a ton of really useful information here, sometimes it is pretty hard to find just what you are looking for.

So, based on what we’ve learned here, we’ve designed a well-planned blog on our Storymind.com site with the very same material, just organized better.  There’s only a few articles reposted there so far (our first day…) but we’ll be re-posting all the best articles, videos, and audios very quickly, as well as new material as soon as we create it.

In addition, you can make comments and post replies to comments on the new blog to express your thoughts and ask questions of other writers!  So, check it out and let us know what you think!

New Category – Narrative Science!

For the convenience of all you narrative scientists out there, we’re gathering all our articles on narrative science from all over Dramaticapedia into a single category called (not unexpectedly )- Narrative Science.

We already have quite a collection there of some pretty heavy-duty reading, and will be sopping up lots of other pertinent articles form the web site, as well as posting all new articles on the topic.

So – wanna know what’s really going on inside your story (or your mind, or your story mind for that matter), check it out!

Call for Character Traits – We Need Your Help!

Over at Storymind.com we’re building a new software utility to help authors create characters.  As part of that, we’re trying to assemble the world’s best list of character traits and attributes and we need your help!

We need lists of traits in a variety of categories such as Name, Age, Vocation, Physique, Social Connections, Club/Organizations, Manner of Dress, Attractiveness/Physical Attributes, Personality, Aspirations, Family, Political, Religious, Nationality, Talents, Skills, Disabilities, Marital Status, Outlook, Attitude, Intelligence, Education and so on.  In short, any quality you might imagine yourself or some other author wanting to build into a character.

If you are interested, just send your lists to mail@storymind.com and we’ll combine them all together in the data base of our new app.

And, just to make it worth your while, everyone who contributes will get a free copy of the software when it is done.  (Windows only at this time, but if you are a Mac user we’ll send you a free copy of one of our comparably priced Mac software products).

Thanks in advance.
